Access to Lactation Consultants
Pregnant and postpartum women will have access to qualified lactation consultants. Women who are considering breastfeeding will be given the assistance they need. Without this encouragement some women may not have considered breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is one of the most effective preventative measures mothers can take to safeguard their baby’s health. Breastfeeding has significant health advantages to the mother as well. With the new guidelines the necessary support will be there for a nursing mother.
Breast Pumps, Breastfeeding Supplies
Nursing mothers will also have access to hospital grade electric breast pumps. With the availability of breast pumps with no co-pay, nursing mothers may be more inclined to continue breastfeeding even after returning to work. According to HealthCare.gov one of the barriers for breastfeeding is the cost of breast pump rental or purchase. The cost of nursing related supplies will also be included.
